Meet
CLAYTON PICKARD

Clayton Pickard is a Stephens County resident since 1964. He attended Duncan Public Schools graduating in 1981. While in High School, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and drilled with the 245th Medical Clearing Company in Oklahoma City. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and began a 20 year career where served in Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Spain. He served on six ships as a Navigator achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class.

 

He is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist pin, other awards include Navy Achievement Medal with 3 Gold Stars, Joint Unit Meritorious Award with 2 Bronze Clusters,  Navy Good Conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Navy Expeditionary Medal with 1 Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Armed Forces Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Navy Sea Service Deployment with 1 Silver Star (6 Deployments), and NATO Medal.  He has also earned various other awards and accolades in his 20 year career.

 

After retirement Clayton went into broadcast media full time. He worked for stations in Pittsburgh PA, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He and his family returned to Duncan in 2004. His last radio job was in Lawton. After leaving the air, he went in insurance then he segued way into banking.

 

Clayton serves his community in numerous ways. Serving with Kiwanis Club for over 13 years as the train driver at Kiddieland. He is currently the President of the Board of Directors for the Stephens County Historical Society and Museum, President of the Board of Directors for the Stephens County Free Holiday Meal which feeds approximately 3000 individuals yearly. He also works with the Toy Shop as a spokesperson and volunteer, Crime Stoppers and the Stephens County Genealogy Society. Clayton is also in Leadership Duncan Class 28.

 

Clayton is married. He and his wife have three grown children, Leah, Molly and Kaleb and four grandchildren. They faithfully worship at the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. He is on the Worship team and serves as an adult teacher, has worked with the youth department and other various ministries.
